    A security licence (Australia & New Zealand) automatically passes Tactical Gear legitimate purpose policy requirements.

    To purchase any stab proof product from us you will need to provide evidence that you comply with Tactical Gear Distributors Pty Ltd Legitmate Purpose Policy” to process your orders. If you are unable to comply with this requirement please do not place an order. Eg: Copy of security licence (Front & back)   

    We have provided links or information pertaining to relevant state or territories laws below for your reference so that you can determine correctly the term "ballistic" and "anti-ballistic"

    No Australian state or Territory has a permit, or licensing requirement to buy and wear stab protection vest, or clothing, as they have no ballistic characteristics and are not bulletproof.

    As long as you pass Tactical Gear Distributors legitimate purpose policy, we will sell our stab protection products to you Australia & New Zealand wide. 

    The PPSS stab vests are officially certified against the most realistic threats, such as knives (CAST KR1), spikes (CAST SP1) as well as hypodermic needles and more importantly blunt force and impact (VPAM W5), you can truly depend on them.

    VICTORIA

    For the purchase of stab protection vests no licence is required. You must pass Tactical Gear Distributors Pty Ltd legitimate purpose policy.

    We interpret the conditions below to be for ballistic, but have provided the information below for your own determinations.

    Conditions for using body armour (Current 2023)

    Only certain licences and permits enable a person to purchase, possess, carry, or use body armour whilst working in the private security industry. Security licence holders with the sub-activities of security guard or bodyguard are covered under a Governor in Council Exemption to use body armour for lawful employment.

    While Licensing and Regulation Division does not need to be notified of your use of body armour when at work, a member of Victoria Police may request persons wearing body armour to demonstrate that the below requirements have been met.

    A person must be able to demonstrate both of the following two requirements in order to work with body armour.

    Requirement 1: Licence/Permit Type

    A person must hold one of the following:

    • an individual operator licence
    • a business licence
    • a temporary visitor permit

    Requirement 2: Activity

    A person's licence or permit must authorise them to perform one of the following:

    • security guard activities
    • bodyguard activities

    Disposing of body armour

    Security guards and bodyguards who once worked lawfully with body armour are covered by a Governor in Council Exemption to sell, display, or advertise for sale their body armour where they no longer possess the licence or permit that entitles them to perform these activities.

    SOUTH AUSTRALIA

    Body Armour Exemptions:

    • Body Armour – is a protective jacket, vest or other article of apparel designed to resist the penetration of a projectile discharged from a firearm.
    • The Summary Offences Act 1953 prohibits the manufacture, supply, possession and use of body armour, unless an exemption is provided by the Commissioner of Police.
    • To obtain the exemption, complete an RF1662 (application for authority to possess body armour) and provide the required information as listed.

    WESTERN AUSTRALIA

    Written response (In Red) from Licensing Services | Western Australia Police Force below: Received 22/02/2023

    The Criminal Code Act Compilation Act 1913 only makes mention, in section 557I, of the possession of bulletproof clothing being an offence (clothing designed to resist the penetration of bullets or other missiles discharged from firearms).
    It does not make mention that possession of stab proof vests constitutes an offence.

    Therefor purchase of stab proof vest and clothing is legal in W.A.

     



    TASMANIA
