The ahesive, plyable lifters are great for lifting powdered and dusty fingerprints. Powdered fingerprints can always be lifted with Gellifters. The kind of Gellifter which should be used, depends on the color of the powder and one’s personal preference. With silver or white powder, the black Gellifters can be used to improve contrast. It should be remembered that, where white and black lifters are used, a negative image of the fingerprint is obtained. Photography is then necessary to obtain the positive image. When using the transparent lifters, a positive image can be obtained directly by photographing the print through the transparent backing. Prints developed with silver powders are known to have been stored for several years without apparent fading. However, we always recommend photographing prints as soon as possible.
